Origins:
The mecanum wheel is an omnidirectional wheel design for a land-based vehicle to move in any direction. It is sometimes called the Swedish wheel or Ilon wheel after its inventor, Bengt Erland Ilon (1923–2008),who conceived of the concept while working as an engineer with the Swedish company Mecanum AB, and patented it in the United States on November 13, 1972. Structure:
Several rollers have been put at 45° to the wheel plate and at 45° to the axle line. The material of roller and wheel plate varies from plastic to steel in different circumstances. You might even 3D print the roller and plane by yourselves for prototypes.

Application:
For its maximum flexibility and manoeuvrability, mecanum wheels are widely used in different industry field, such as robotics, intra-logistics, parking, healthcare, energy, aerospace and more...which calls for a higher quality and higher efficiency mecanum wheel.
RoboCT motorized mecanum wheel uses high grade casting polyurethane, with anti-slippy design, and machined aluminum wheel frame. RoboCT integrates motor, gearbox, encoder and hall electrical parts into the compact mecanum wheel, and customized shock absorber making it easier for assembly. This innovative design makes its application scenarios wider. And mecanum wheeled robot enables you to move freely in all directions. You can fully utilise its sideways movement and 360° rotation even in defined space.
